Where is this lovely lodge?

Where exactly is the Lakeside Retreat holiday let?

Tallington Lakes is on the border of Rutland, Cambridgeshire, and Lincolnshire - so easy to reach from most of the uk!

The position of this lodge at the top of the biggest lake, with only fields at the back, guarantees a peaceful stay. Yes you can stay in other lodges, but you won’t get our view! South facing over the lake, which means a warm lodge on sunny days -we've even had guests enjoying the suntrap decking in November.

A world away from everyday life, but only a short drive from dog friendly Stamford, a really pretty market town with a river, multiple churches, historic buildings and sun filled pedestrianised shopping areas packed with places to indulge the senses or the credit card!

Bring Your Furry Family

What makes The Retreat a great place to bring dogs?

We have 5 dogs, and we aim to bear that in mind when we welcome yours. So we don’t ask about size or breed - our littlest is a little monkey! You are the best people to know whether the lodge is suitable for your dogs.

We have had 8 chihauhas, and 4 labradors (not at the same time!) - just ask to find out if we suit your needs.

We provide beds, bowls, spare leads, identity collars, towels, a warm outside shower - we even have crates if you want to borrow them! Dogs are allowed on the furniture in the living space, but we do ask that you bring your own throws and bedding please.  Dogs are allowed into the bedroom/bathrooms areas, but if they don’t at home, and you don’t want them to here, they will be  just fine, as it’s an all one level lodge and they will know where you are.

The fields around are arable, and around January / February there may be loud bags from the farmer's bird scarer.

Dogs are not allowed to swim in the lake, but I have provided maps of some lovely walks that I've done with my dogs, and many involve water.

What's the Outside Like?

Outside, we have an enclosed grassed garden with fence and gate to 5ft. It's also screened, so it's private. There's a porch, and the garden is accessed directly from the lodge down 3 steps. There is a dog ramp for little or old legs, and a warm shower. Our fingers are not particular green but your dogs won’t mind! Leads to borrow, we hope we've thought of everything!

There’s also a 40ft wraparound verandah and spacious suntrap decking, and jetty, all with gates so that you can control where your furries are allowed to roam (dogs are not allowed in the lake)

Walking around the lake (dogs on leads rule due to wildlife) can take about an hour, but there’s a very dog friendly lakeside bar and restaurant to pop in to!

Within a short drive there are many fabulous off lead walks, details are in the lodge, but also do ask.

Enjoying the Lake

Where can I paddleboard and kayak?

So many people are asking the question ‘Where can I SUP in Lincolnshire?’ Well this is a fabulous place!

There are 2 options for paddle boarding at Tallington Lakes - you can book in at the sailing centre between April and September, or you can launch your own from our private jetty!

Please note that to launch from the jetty you will need your own 50N buoyancy aid and insurance, and there is a small daily fee per craft - ask me for more information. Dogs are not allowed to join you on the lake.
